The Pipes Lab works on the development and application of novel computational and statistical methods for the accurate and efficient analysis of environmental DNA (eDNA) metagenomics and metabarcoding data. We are associated with the Hawai'i Data Science Institute , the Department of Information and Computer Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences, and the Pacific Biosciences Research Center in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. You can read more about our research here.
Our lab is dedicated to fostering a fair and inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of their background, feels valued and respected. We actively challenge inequality and discrimination in all forms, whether based on race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or socioeconomic status.
The Pipes Lab acknowledges that the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is situated on the traditional lands of the Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians). We honor their deep connection to this land and their enduring sovereignty, and we are committed to respecting Indigenous knowledge and supporting a more just and equitable future for the Native Hawaiian community.
